Belhus Woods Country Park

Belhus Woods Country Park is not only a major resource for local residents and those of South East London but also for wildlife. The park attracts over 200,000 visitors per year, most coming for informal recreation including walking, exercising the dog, bird watching and cycling. However, in more recent years it has become important as a host to four resident clubs, their activities include archery, junior football, model boats and trains. There has also been a recent trend for the designated BBQ area being used as a social meeting point for groups as well as families throughout the summer months.

One of the assets of the park is its variety of habitats which is a major contributing factor in the sites high wildlife diversity and also offers visitors the opportunity to enjoy different countryside experiences including grassland, lakes, managed coppice and ancient woodlands.

The Ranger Service not only provides information and maintenance but also education support for schools and youth groups, such as Beavers and Guides, as well as a programme of events and activities for general public.
